How I Learned to Appreciate Wine Influencers

It has taken a great deal of reflection and study to wrap my arms around the idea of the Wine Influencer. In the past, I don’t think I’ve hidden my general disdain for this species of wine communicator. If I have hidden it, then I’m not communicating the truth very well.

Generally, it is the highly produced narcissism that is on display by a huge chunk of the Influencer community on Instagram and TikTok that causes me to recoil with disdain. And yet despite the obvious vapidness and icky self-love that is the primary feature of so much Influencer content, the category continues to grow in popularity.
