Considerations after 19 years of penning commentary on the wine industry

Today marks my 19th anniversary commenting publicly on issues of wine politics, business, and media and the beginning of my 20th year doing so. That’s a lot of words under the bridge. All tolled, it amounts to about 3,800 articles.

In my very first post back in 2004, I finished with “We are going to talk about wine, how it’s covered in the press, my trials and successes and failures, and the way wine marketing intersects with American culture and society. I’ll be fun…right?”

I’m here to tell you it has been fun. So much fun, in fact, I can’t imagine publishing commentary not being part of my life. Actually, I fear if I stopped writing I might stop thinking. And if I stop thinking, God knows what happens then. I might choose to run for office if that happens.
