I draw my readers’ attention to this story in order to push back against the constant refrain that the wine industry doesn’t go in for innovation and new ideas and this is harming wine’s sales:

Overtone has launched two limited-edition coloring kit cuvées inspired by Franzia.
In September, boxed wine leader Franzia Wines announced it’s collaborating with hair color producer Overtone. That’s right, you can now pair your hair with your glass of wine….Overtone has launched two limited-edition coloring kit cuvées inspired by Franzia. Fans of Franzia’s Sunset Blush rosé—or those with lighter hair—can try the kit featuring Overtone’s Pastel Purple and Sunset Blush temporary coloring conditioners. The other kit includes Extreme Red and Extreme Purple; mix them together and your hair will be a tribute to Franzia’s Chillable Red blend. Each kit is priced $59 and contains two 8-ounce jars.

Purple and Rosé hair coloring mixes inspired by Franzia’s box wine? Someone try to tell me the wine industry isn’t working to innovate itself out of its current downturn in sales. Someone just try to tell me.
