Six Costly Ways to Play With The Big Boys In the Wine, Beer and Spirits Space
It could cost you Billions to just a mere few thousand
It’s not cheap to play in the alcohol space, whether you are a consumer or an interested party. But, in my role as a purveyor of important information, consider the following six ways to spend between a few thousand dollars and a few billion dollars to get in on the action.
COST TO OWN A NAPA VALLEY WINERY AND VINEYARD: $34 MILLION
Meteor Vineyard is located on 34 acres right smack in the middle of the Combsville AVA in the south of Napa Valley. Many consider this lesser-known AVA to be the best source of Cabernet Sauvignon in the entire Valley.
What do you get for $34 million? A state-of-the-art winemaking facility, 22 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, and a 13,000-square-foot wine country cottage.
COST TO BUY RECEIVE A VISIT TO YOUR ALCOHOL TRADE ASSOCIATION FROM A U.S. CONGRESS PERSON: $54,000
Recently the National Beer Wholesalers Association thanked Congressman Gerry Connolly for visiting their headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. If you’re wondering how to make that happen for your alcohol trade association or perhaps your winery, all you need, apparently, is to give a total of $54,000 in campaign contributions to the congressman.
The Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America, another proud alcohol trade association, is less likely to get a visit from Congressman Connelly. WSWA only gave $23,000 to the congressman over the same period.
