Robert Kent is a tool.
The head of Kent Strategic Advisors, Mr. Kent is also the former General Counsel of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy under President Biden. What’s he doing now? Writing incomprehensible drivel like this:
“we must question the wisdom of policies that prioritize convenience over caution, wealth over wellness. The true modernization of liquor laws will recognize the complexity of alcohol’s impact on society and strive for a future where public health is not sacrificed at the altar of private gain.”
He’s talking about direct shipment of alcohol. In an opinion piece for the Buffalo News, Kent notes the following:
“Strong alcohol laws to protect adult consumers are critical, but perhaps even more important is staying vigilant to stop underage drinking. In neighboring states like Vermont and Massachusetts, government sting operations have shown how laws to allow interstate shipping of alcohol to the home make it easier for teens to buy liquor.”
What he doesn’t say (probably because those who paid him to write this editorial didn’t tell him to say it) is that there is no member of law enforcement anywhere in the United States at the federal, state, or local level, and no member of the alcohol regulatory community anywhere in the United States, that will claim direct shipment of alcohol has led to an increase in minors obtaining alcohol, let alone increasing their consumption of alcohol.
