Where Lads, Drinks, Women and Headlines Converge
If we are going to report on troubles in the drinks trade, then let's do it accurately form top to bottom.
Sometimes the headline doesn’t match the content of the article and sometimes, that’s a very good thing.
The most recent example comes courtesy of Harpers, an English trade publication covering all things alcohol. In fact, Harpers has been at it now for just under 150 years. The headline that caught my attention the other day was this:
Lad culture called out for continuing to sideline women in whisky
Two things caught my attention. I didn’t know what “Lad Culture” was but I had a faint idea and wanted to confirm. Second, I was interested to know what kind of sidelining women in the whisky trade were suffering from and if it was systemic or incidental.
