I was in Willamette Valley in 1993, and one afternoon visited Domaine Drouhin. Perfect day, great wines, breathtaking view and so forth. I was tasting with the managing director at the time. We were sitting outside. I gestured out toward the east and said, "What's out there?" He said, "We don't go out there. That's the realm of motorcycles and shotguns."
My wife and I solidified our love of Pinot Noir during a trips to the Willamette Valley in late 1990’s. It was one of the reasons that led us to start our own winery.
I’m still irritated by that…🤔🤣🤣
Seriously, we love Oregon and will likely retire to the Bend area.
I lived for 7 years above the 45th in Michigan. It was glorious. No hurricanes, no earthquakes, no tornadoes. Fires were our only disaster to watch for as we lived surrounded by a 10,000 acre state park. We don’t have kids (40 and 56-)-maybe we would fit in, in Oregon. We certainly do not in Indianapolis, but my healthcare team is here. I’m kind of partial.

As a Willamite you seem to have a few minuses but a lot of pluses. Cheers from this Aussie.
