No disagreement. Wine is going to persist as a favored beverage for fine dining and personal enjoyment. This is just a downturn in a long cyclical pattern. Might be a good time to prepare for investment in the upturn. In the meantime, enjoy a glass of wine.

Tom you've done it again. This is a prescient piece about where we are headed. And yes, more journalists heading out on their own is bound to happen. But I am so sad we are losing Wine & Spirits.

Love it. Will be sharing it. I’ve got a new wine bar and wine shop (or fourth iteration - and best -of Cellar Cat) and education in all these points requires consistent conversation with The Wine buying public. Love the ending talking about letting people think they’ve discovered something, I will remind our staff to join our guests in their discovery. Such a great way to put it. Thank you!

I've already begun #6 after a friend told me her doctor said, "well, there really is no safe level of alcohol consumption." I'm beyond anger at it, now I see it as I used to see the student who'd ask me why Fitzgerald was such a great writer.

Thanks for the great overview. Agree, agree, agree. And giant YES we need to call the Abstinence and temperance people for who they are. Tim Stockwells own research even concluded that 1-2 glasses of wine may nor be good for you, BUT also showed no significant health issues. He just minimized this part of his research.
